  • OIL FILLED RADIATORS OF THE EXPENSIVE KIND

    Hi All

    happy new year,

does anyone know if the slim oil filled radiators(low power high radiant output ?) pricey type are any better than their cheap and bulky counterparts?

    thanks

It will tell you the wattage on the box, this will indicate power consumption.

    Sort it Kev

          Kev

We actually went to Andreus at Cabo Roig yesterday (the big hardware and garden store). We bought a 2000 kw oil filled rad for 84 euros. Had it on last night. Very satisfied with it. Slimline not bulky. You have to put it on full until the room reaches the temperature you are happy with and then the instructions tell you to switch down the thermastat until it clicks and it keeps it at that temperature for you. They have slimline cheaper ones in there too. Quite a good selection.

There is no such thing as a "high output low input electric radaitor" - with electric heaters you get out what you in. So a 600 watt heater gives 600 watts of heat. Electric radiators should be about 35 to 100 euroes depending on the size and thermostat. In spain it's best to use low wattage heaters because the mains power available is quite small in most houses.

As you find out, when you also switch on the kettle to make a cup of tea!

                efficiency

                Hi all

                were talking efficiency here

I think you will find there is a difference in the units mentioned above, the rating, ie 1200w is the amount of electricity the unit needs to give its maximum heat output, if a more expensive model delivers the same heat but requires only 600w of electrical power to do so, you will find in the long run that the expensive model costs 50% less to run.

its like engines, a 2.0 sierra or 2.0 porche, both use the same amount of gas in the cylinders, one deals with the mix more effectively than the other and hence produces more speed.

                  Hi Kev,

We're just about to look for heating - what outcome did you arrive at?

                  Jeb.

I recently bought an air con unit from Carrefour for 300 euros which included ther fitting! This also works as a hot air blower which was much needed last week.

I have recently fitted 2 of the new style heaters 1 is 1450 Watts and the other is 900 Watts. My apartment is 80 sq M and they work really well. Pricey but amazingly hot to touch with excellent convection. 2 heaters and the place is kept at 19 deg using the built in thermostats. Also programable 7 day timers are fitted. They seem as good as central heating in England now have to wait for the bill for the electric.
