Default Looking forward to the game

As I have already promised Vantage 2ooo I will promote it agressively over my sites, forums etc
Even as a huge Man. Red (lived in Salford before anybody says anything!) I'd definitely go to watch these guys. FC Torrevieja had Real Madrid veterans down 3 years ago and we had a great day and a huge crowd.

Please update me with more details.

Yes, some great players from when Liverpool did have a decent team!Come on, you would have been disappointed if I did not have one little joke. Talking about jokes, has John Wark still got that dodgy haircut?

Default Torry - Liverpool vets game

This match takes place on Saturday 29th Nov at FC Torreviejas ground, the Vicente Garcia Stadium.
Tickets for the match are 15e (5 for under 16´s). I can also confirm that a match programme will be produced for the game and that most of the players mentioned will take part.
Apart from local TV and radio, the spanish TV station "CUATRO" are sending a camara crew to cover the game. Liverpool TV are also flying over.
There will also be a meal/auction memorabilia after the match at which both sets of players will be present.
Even if you are not a liverpool fan, this is a must for any real football fan, especially those of us that remember those fantastic players.

Further info can be found on the FC Torrevieja site at Torrevieja Football Club - Torry Army - Home

I would love to support Torry every week and in their quest to beat Liverpool but sadly the prices for non league football in Spain by far exceed those in the UK they are approx double the price
no wonder clubs prosper here and go under in the UK

Default More expensive than the UK!!!

The local press is continually reporting that local football teams here in Spain are unable to cover their costs and pay their players. You say it is expensive to watch football here, a season ticket for Torrevieja is 120 euros, at Burton Albion you can pay 236 pounds to stand on the terraces in the wind, rain and cold. I know which I prefer.

I think you would find Torrevieja are not even at conference level if they played in the UK
You are right 120 euros for say 20 games works out at 6 euros very good value but at 15 euros that is more than double for one game .
Like you I have stood watching football in all weather and the temperate climate here is much better.

Prices here in spain are way way less thanin the uk, well at least in England.
At Torry, season tickets are 120 for gents and 80 for ladiers and pensioners. Kids under 16 enter FREE.
Thats 6euros per game for gents and 4 euros for ladies and OAPs. If that is expensive.......................its about the same as going to the pictures here in spain or having a couple of drinks in your local.
If you pay on the gate, prices are 12 and 8 respectively. Kids under 16 are free.
So a typical family (mun, dad and 2 kids U 16) day out at a live game will cost you 20 euros!!! I dare anybody to beat that and you get to watch a game of live pro football.

As to the level Torry would be in back home, thats a difficult one. Maybe top end of Conferance or low end of second division. Having played at conferance level I can certainly say that the top clubs in the spanish 3rd division (grouo 6 where Torry play) would more than hold their own against the top conferance sides, whilst the top conferance sides would all hold their own against the mid/low 2nd div sides.

Whatever, the point of this is that for a very small amount of money you get to see a pro game of live football with all the atmosphere, programme, etc and get a beer at the same time!! You never know you may even come back for more once you try it.

Foe us Torry fans, we have kept the faith though our bad season last term, where we almost folded, and have come out the other end in a better condition. It may be difficult to make a realistic challenge for promotion this season, but next year may well be different.

Come on Torry!!!

Pity Roger Hunt isn't playing for the Liverpool Legends. I had a chat with Roger recently prior to him playing golf in Spain. Amongst the party was Gordon Banks. I managed to pull out a £20 note - and duly got Roger and Gordon to sign it! The wife said, 'what did you do that for? - it's only worth about a tenner now!'.
As a sports journalist I have also met and got former Liverpool manager Gerard Houlier's autograph.
Away from Liverpool, I recently did filming on Spanish channel Viva TV on their Let's Talk programme, about David Beckham (not all Liverpool fans hate him, do they?). I have chronicled Beckham's career, mainly focussing on his loan spell at Preston North End from Manchester United in 1995, in the book: David Beckham-In at The Deep End. The slot is to be shown in December.
Links to the book and newspaper articles can be found on the internet, via, David Beckham-In at The Deep End.
Good luck to Liverpool in their game against Torry.

Andrew
not sure if Roger Hunt is a regular player in the Liverpool leyands side, although a Liverpool Leyand he most certainly is.
There are lots of players that for one reason or another, could not make the game, which is a shame, but there are still enough stars here for us fans to enjoy.
Should be a great day and the meal afterwards with both sets of players should be very interesting.

Tickets still available from the Torry Army office (Urb. San Luis), the Pantry Supermarket (San Luis), any of the Torry Army Committee or from the ground on Saturday. I have been informed that the ticket office at the ground will be open from 11am on Saturday.
