The Welfare State!
Just back from a trip to the UK to visit the sister-in-law and her husband. She’s a retired teacher and he’s a retired university professor.( You know what they say: "Adults in a childs world but children in an adults") They’re both dyed in the wool armchair socialists! I happened to make a derogatory remark about the health service and you would’ve thought I’d mugged a cripple, what a commotion………
“It’s the best health service in the world, a model for all other countries who only wish they had the same etc. etc.” When I explained about the brilliant treatment I’d received in Torrevieja Hospital it was pooh poohed as very unlikely. I was then informed that they both had BUPA private health insurance and how expensive it was now that their employers no longer paid the premiums and how they had to pay them out of their pensions. When I enquired how they managed to do that on a state pension I was informed that they both had private pensions! Their children (4) all went to private schools and they love the system in the UK so much that they lived in Africa for twenty-five years.
So, all in all, it seems to me that they are typical lefties in that the Welfare State is good enough for the likes of you and me but no good for the really important people like socialists and their Labour MPs.
And, if we’re not very careful, the Great British Unwashed will vote the Socialists back into power at the next election as the majority of their support comes from Immigrants and single parents, none of whom will want to see their benefits reduced.
Don’t let the Thieving, Dishonest, Duplicitous Bastards get away with it AGAIN!!!
