I know that the powers that be don’t want us driving our cars (some nonsense about ‘global warming’ brrrrrrrrr!!) and are encouraging everyone to get on their bike, but isn’t it about time that cyclists were made to buy some insurance?
Yes, they have cycle lanes on almost every major route now (who paid for them?) and that keeps them away from motor vehicles, but what about the back roads? We all know that if you have a collision with a cyclist then ninety-nine percent of the time it’s considered to be your fault, regardless of what idiotic manoeuvre the steaming twit was trying to perform on his bike or what damage he’s done to your car, but in the unlikely event that he’s found liable he won’t have any third party cover to pay for the damage anyway!
Most of them don’t have the brain capacity of a peanut and blatantly ignore the rules of the road, traffic lights, road signs, one-way streets, and happily ride on the pavement if it suits them.
It’s time there were more controls….
