Does anybody know how much per minute it costs to phone and recieve calls using a Spanish sim card from Spain to England and local Spanish calls.

In Spain : costs nothing to receive calls on your Spanish SIM.
Making calls costs 10-20 cents a min. depends on to landline / Spanish mobile. Calling England - cost a lot but not as much as using a UK SIM in Spain.

However, you have to use your bought time within a few months - otherwise it runs out so don't buy too much at once.

If you take your Spanish SIM to the UK and use it in UK, it costs a lot.

Conclusion : In Spain use Spanish SIM
In UK use UK SIM.

I believe you get 6 months to use your Spanish SIM credit on all networks except Vodafone who give you nine months. If you don't top up at least once within the time limit you will lose any remaining credit AND your number - you'll then have to buy a new SIM card.
