  • Vanishing Cream

Women now make up ninety percent of employees in the Banking and Building Society sections of the workplace. They are also the majority of employees in the NHS and almost all government departments, the legal offices, Citizens Advice Bureaux, local authorities, social services and the media. It is almost impossible to watch Sky News without the compulsory two or three giggling bimbettes giving their unasked for fatuous opinions from the couch.

So the commercial world has now been taken over by females but can we really have any confidence in a sex that after more than two thousand years of so-called civilisation still believes in a miracle cream that will banish its wrinkles and restore its youth! The multi-billion pound industry that is founded on, and perpetrates, this con is continually fed by females as it brings out a new miracle cream seemingly every week. The bathroom cabinet of your average woman is full of yesterday’s miracles that obviously were a disappointment, as they didn’t produce what their advertising promised, so why do they carry on spending small fortunes on what are basically similar to snake-oil that used to be peddled by the forerunners of the giant cosmetic companies of today.

    Whatever happened to ‘Liposomes’ Ladies?

Many years ago, when I was living in Australia, I was told by a prominent dermatologist not to spend a fortune on beauty creams and that the best products I could use were the cheapest moisturiser and, every night, a very small amount of Retinol. I still have an excellent skin for my age. The other advise was to use solar protection 40+ as the sun causes enormous damage to the skin. Another advice which I have followed. Also, I thoroughly clean my skin morning and evening with a cheap cleansing cream and I remove it with rose water.
Cosmetic companies keep on bringing fancy creams not only for women but also for men. The secret of a healthy skin is good food, avoid the sun, clean thoroughly and exfoliate regularly, use moisturiser and a tiny, tiny bit of retinol (careful, it can also burn).
