      Hi Baldrik,
You can always connect to a dvd recorder with an hard drive if you are that desperate. I miss my sky plus box myself and in the uk I have it connected to a dvd recorder so I have the best of three worlds. In Spain I have British Tv sat ,quite good a mixture of everything,I don,t know what connectios there are at the back of the box ,it is something you should consider looking at if you want to connect too it.
You have got me thinking about it now? archie

        Superbeam

        Hi
Stay away from Superbeam, there channels are limited I have been with Telemicro now for 4 years and you get more channels. Standard installation is 590 euros and 19 euros a month. Great t.v. package.

Is it possible to pick up the astra sattilte with a 1 metre digital dish? I am in the middle east and the sat equipment is cheap as chips here compared to spain. So am thinking about bringing a decoder back and a 1 metre dish which will go as luggage.

You need to study the specialist sat info and forums to see what you can get where - Astra 2 serves the UK but is actually three stattelites - 2A, 2B & 2D. Astra 2D is the one with main UK channels but this beam is focused on the UK and you cannot get it in the Costa Blanca except with a costa-lot dish. You can get in Madrid and Barcelona with a 60cm or 1M dish. Have a look at :

We rent a house which has Superbeam and I wouldnt recommend it - limited channels, and quite often some of the good channels (ch 4 and sky one) are out of signal for a day at a time. Also we have to keep unplugging the box to reset it when we get no channels at all (often!) Previously we had Tele micro and this was far better!

You can use a 1.37 dish with good quality LNB such as technomate or black ultra this will alow you to use your sky+ box in Torrevieja area, as you move North up the coast towards Alicante you would need a 1.9 dish. There is plenty of information here - www.mrskytv.com
