BUILDING WORK DELAYS

Hi Everyone,

Can anybody tell me if there is any compansation i can claim because i was supposed to sign for my apartment in May 2006, then we was given a date for December 06 / January 07, now i am being told by our solicitor we will not be signing until April/May 07

I understand that the builders often have to pay a fine, but this goes to the town hall / government not the individuals left waiting.

Bad luck, unfortunately this is not unusual, a couple of apartments we look after were delayed almost a year, you can usually get compensation in the form of free grills fitted or alarms, or one had a vanity unit in the bathroom, not a lot and never cash or enough for the stress alone, but do let them know as soon as you can that you will be expecting something.

Our apartment ran over by one and a half years.
It was built on a different plot and the design was different.
We never got a euro back in compensation along with all the other residents.
When we did sign we were pleased with the build and just glad that it was finally over.
A strong lesson learnt we would never but off plan again.
