  • Padron Advice

    Hi

Was hoping someone might be able to give me some advice after our visit to the Orihuela Costa Town Hall yesterday. For the past week we have been trying to apply for the padron (we are renting long term ) and yesterday morning managed to get a utility bill from Aguagest and then joined the queue for the padron. Imagine our surprise when the very friendly lady behind the desk told us that all our documents were correct but that she was confused because the owner of this apartment who lives in Ireland came to OC Town Hall last week to sign on the padron and then when back to Ireland. We shouldn't have been put on the padron because the lady said the owners and tenants shouldn't really be on it at the same time but she bent the rules slightly and we managed to get on. We are in regular contact with the owners and even asked them last week if they had a utility bill but they failed to tell us what they were doing. We phoned them last night and she said she did it so she can now apply for residencia (whilst living in Ireland) so she will save 35% tax when she sells this apartment, we were just wondering, if she is applying for residencia on the strength of this property while we are still living here as tenants would it affect our application? I did notice a sign when we got to the front of the desk saying that if you intending to leave Spain you MUST sign off the padron but the owner has managed to sign on....confused!!

    Thanks in advance
    Ciara and Dave

Please kindly note that the application of their residency will not affect your registration at the pardon as you can prove that you have been living in the property for a long time.
