  • Tapas in Torrevieja

Having visited Majorca for the last 6 years I am about to land on mainland Spain for my very first time.
I will be staying in Torrevieja.
My favourite hang out in Manchester is the oldest Spanish Bar in town, El Rincon de Raffas.
Can anyone recommend a nice Tapas Bar in Torrevieja please
    Gracias Pablo

    Hi ,
On the sea front there are a few ,I like the ( pardon the spelling) The Meditarraneo opposite the Marina,If you go into the side bar,you can see the tapas on offer for yourself .The old casino is good also ,they are both side by side.
    enjoy archie

      proper spanish one

Walk past the fountain heading north (ish) Turn left at the junctoin where the road sweeps round right. Look for the crappest Atlas hotel in the world (Hotel Central) and the tapas bar in one street nearer the sea than this

sorry about the crap instructions but it's worth it
Full of spanish people at lunch time which is as good a recommendation as I need

looking at the bus station entrance there's a road to the right leading to the sea.

On the right there's a shop called Flash (ahemmm no questions asked about cutting security keys!) - just a few shops down there's a great tapas bar - name escapes me?

2 Bars in the new Haberneras Centre serve Tapas. They are at exit of the centre ( Casino-side exit). The Bar on the left-hand as you exit is the BEST

One of our favourites is D'Tapas. Coming from the craft market in Torrevieja turn right up past the fountain before you reach the casino and it's about 20 yards up opposite the indoor market.
Good to go in about 1.30, get a seat, order some tapas and watch as the locals pile in for lunch!

I agree with Locos. This is one of my favourites too. Excellent ham!

                Hi Paul.mcgeein

In El Rincon in Manchester they hold Spanish meetup language meetings. Have you ever attended any of them ? Next meeting is on 1th Aug at 7 pm.

I understand Spanish meetup is an internationl organisation which holds such meetings throughout the world so that people who wish to learn, speak and practice Spanish can get together

I have never been to one. It is still on my wish list

                  Hola Don Pablo!

I was in Rafa's today for a bit of well-deserved lunch. It's the best in Manchester, without a doubt.

Torrevieja is not, thank God, Manchester! In Manchester we have El Rincon de Rafa and Evuna on Deansgate and (a hidden gem!), the Dog and Partridge in Mottram and not much else that I've discovered yet. If you know Rafa's you'll obviously know La Tasca (Deansgate and Didsbury) and know why it's not on my shortlist.

In Torrevieja there are more good little eateries than you can shake a stick at and, to echo previous postings, you must not miss D'Tapas on Calle Joaqin Chapaprieta, near the produce market - A small entrance that opens up, Tardis style, into a big, long bar with most of the food on display. Take your phrase book - it's a Spanish place after all. They do have tables at the back of the place to eat restaurant-style if you're in a party, but it's the "eat and drink at the bar" style of the place that makes it special for me.

Or, why not just have a slow walk around the town and have a beer and a tapa here, a glass of wine and a tapa there, a glass of Jerez and a tapa somewhere else. If you're not sure about any particular item on display, ask for a "pincho" (a small portion) to see if you would like a "tapa" or a "racion".

Enjoy your stay in Torrevieja - it's a great place for foodies.

                  Buen apetito!

Yes I like D'Tapas but if you have a car go to the mud baths at Lo Pagan there is a great bar/restaurent place to the left of the promenade. Don't know its name but they have loads of different Tapas.
