Residential Language Schools

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone on here has been / knows anyone who has been to a Spanish language residential school anywhere in Spain.

I've looked at a couple, like Cactus, Cervantes, languages abroad, don quijote etc.

I'm considering doing one of these courses for a number of weeks in the summer (I'm living in the UK) but was wondering if anyone had any experience and could let me know what these are like. I know someone who spent a year at one and became totally fluent in the language - but not sure how much that was due to the teaching and how much to how she was living in Spain.

Any ideas on the best length of time to take a course for?

I"ll come to Torrevieja about next 2 month and want to find friend in here. Also I must learn spanish language. I"ll meet pleasure with my new friends in Torrevieja.
