I'm 40 and have a full car license.

I have a bike license too, but from the USA and I can not transfer this.

Do I need to do a theory test to obtain a motorbike license?

Is it also possible to rent a bike to learn on and take a test?

I don't wish to buy a bike to take the test on to have to sell it and upgrade later?

Also, at what age/height does my son have to be to ride on the back with me?

Yes, of course, a 20 questions specific test.

Is it also possible to rent a bike to learn on and take a test?

It is possible but you need a specific motorcycle and the circuit, it is very expensive.

I don't wish to buy a bike to take the test on to have to sell it and upgrade later?

The normal thing is to do everything in the school, they put the motorcycle and everything necessary.

Also, at what age/height does my son have to be to ride on the back with me?

To avoid problems the best option is from 12 years old.

Yes, of course. Lamentably the test is in Spanish. Only the car license is examined in English.

The formation(training) is in English but the oficial test in Spanish.[/COLOR]

How much does this cost?

It cost about 700€ with the class practises includes.

Do I need my own bike?

No, we have all of you need.

How long does this usually take?

About 1 month.

One last question, on Spanish news I saw something about a new license category being introduced in November, for those already holding a full license, to allow them to ride a bike up to 500cc.

Do you have any information on this?

Hello, I´ve information about this.

The new "A2" license is a specific license of 400 cc bikes.

At the moment the "A2" is a license that you need 18 years old,

if you want obtain "A" license you have two options:
Wait for 24 years old or
Obtain "A2" and wait 2 years whit this license.

if you make this you obtain automatically "A" license. (you can drive all bikes)


Show this table:

49 cc license: 15 years old.
A1: Bikes of 125cc (16 years old)
A2: Bikes of 400cc (18 years old)
A: All of bikes
