Hi,
Can anyone tell me any good running routes around Torrevieja. I'm not interested in going along the sea front as I don't want crowds.
Is it possible to go around the salt lakes. I assume there must be a path for walkers ??

There is a path (wide track) around the La Mata lake. I'm not sure if it goes all the way around but it certainly goes most of the way. I'm afraid it's much too long for me to put it to the test at a walk. Maybe someone with a bike could find out for you? If not, ask at the information office at the La Mata natural park.

Perhaps the tourist information office could help you, There is one at the top of Ave De Las Cortes Valencianas, just before you start going downhill to La Mate which is handy for parking and you don't have to go into the town and park up.

a good route the wife and i use is the old railway track that is now a cycle path and running route it starts by the old harbour area in torre its just in land by the skate park thingy and runs along the salt lake and thru the urbanisation out to the lake again alongside the cv 905 ,if you google maps youll see it ,its a bit flat but you can get a decent pace up just watch out for the dog crap (and sadly worse ,, by the lakeside from non residents )
i wish people would clean up after their dogs

I don't think that there is path around the La Mata Lake. Starting from the information centre you can follow paths around, in a clockwise direction as far as the viewing point, near the roundabout to Los Montesinos, on the Crevellente road. To continue you would have to use roads

In an anticlockwise direction the paths take you as far as the El Refugio restaurant and then again you have to use roads. While recently trying to find a path around I met some cyclists who had just ridden around the lake, but they said it involved road work for at least half the distance
