Woodburners what do you know

Any one out there have any information on woodburners, how good or bad they are, how cheap or not are they, do they give out plenty of heat? Any information on them would be a great help.

I live in the north of the Valencia region and heat a 3 bedroomed chalet with a large woodburner. This winter to now I have used about 4 tonnes of wood which costs 100 euros for a tonne. Hope this helps.

When you heat your house with the wood burner I presume that the heat just flows into the other rooms. There must be a terriific heat come from the wood burner. Doesn't it get overpowering in the room that the wood burner is in. I would imagine you can't get too close to the burner.

You are right the lounge is much warmer than other rooms, although the heat can be distributed by leaving internal doors open and using ceiling fans. I think that a woodburning stove and some form of central heating would be the ideal answer. Does anyone have info on off peak electricity?
