The local press reports that the Residencia Card has now been abolished and that Europeans intending to stay for more than 3 months should get a certificate from the nearest Estranjeros Office or National Police Station.
What does this mean for those of us who are part way through the process ? We are already being treated as residents for fiscal purposes.
My wife and myself are due to go for fingerprinting on the 24th May.
Is there any point in this ?
Is the Estranjeros Office referred to the one on the main square for Torrevieja residents ?
Should we just go to Alicante for the certificate referred to in the new regulations ?
We are now counted as Residents without the fingerprints or the actual card - should this be OK for 5 years until we ask for a certificate ?
As you know it is easy to do things the wrong way and have a wasted journey and wait ?
Any advice ?
