Firstly, hello everyone, my 1st posting.
My wife has been paying into the Spanish S/S scheme for over 6 years now,
self employed, commission only (yes in the property business),unfortunatly due to the present climate and due to the fact that she has not had a sale for 7 months, we can no longer afford the €250 per month S/S payments, anyway she has been told that if she stopped the payments we would no longer be even covered for any medical situation that may arise! is this correct.
Paid out approx €12,000 plus more in tax over the 6 years, seems unfair.

You are not coverred from the moment you stop paying the Social Security but the time you have been paying it is taken into account for the purposes of widowed benefit and retirement pension.
