  • Modern Jive...!

Are there any modern jive clubs around here. If not why not? Its a great way of keeping fit and socialising as the nights get cooler. Better than sitting in and moaning about the lack of british T.V!

I used to dance in the U.K and i love it. I have also met some life long friends through going to the classes. If anybody would seriously think about setting up some jive classes here in Montesinos, i would love to get involved!

      Jive - and clubs

Why not look through CBN and give one or two of the dance folks who advertise there a ring - whilst they may not "do" jive themselves, the dance world is quite small, and they may know of someone who does, doesn't need to be someone advertising jive that you call for info.

When you say "modern" jive, do you mean, LeRoc, Ceroc or some other variation? If it's jive as per Latin American in "Strictly" then any good Ballroom/Latin American teacher would be able to help, and might even set up a class if there was enough demand - but you need to have numbers - enough bodies through the door to cover hall rental, and expenses and a payment for the teachers time, just as in the UK.

      2 pence worth

Thanks for that, we are going over there today to find out

I have also tracked this down. A bit far away for me but may be useful to others. It is the other side of Cartagena in Tallante

Is there a big difference between modern-jive, rock'n'roll style of jive, lindy hop, etc?

                    Cheers,

                    Keith
