    hi
i think that the best urbanisation to live on is at los altos torrevieja, las fuentes 1 or las fuentes 2
    las fuentes 1 nice apartments
    las fuentes 2 detached villas

Very broad generalisation but if you want somewhere predominantly "British" look south of Torrevieja. If you want something a bit more "Spanish/International" look in Torrevieja itself or just to the north of it.

It really is a mater of personal choice, we are very happy with were we have bought, good urb, commercial centre nearing completion - take a look when you are out - Loamos de Cabo Roig, take the slip road about 500 mtrs past the Cabo Roig roundabout (one with the Pyramid on it), Urb is about 500mtrs / 1kilometre on the right (at the first large (new) roundabout.

            Hi Davrowb.

You're definitely doing the right thing in renting first. This will give you a good idea of the economic, beureaucratic, and cultural aspects of Spain. Picking an urb to live on is, I would suggest, something that people cannt help you with - as Barry says it is all a matter of personal choice. However, do consider the following points:

Do you want to live in an area with many permanent residents or amongst holiday homes.
Do you have access to a car? Consider distance to local shops and amenities.
Do you have children? Consider school locations.
Check that any desirable urb has a demographic makeup that matches your own situation (i.e. don't move into an area of predominantly retired folk if you have young kids).
Do you speak Spanish? If not would you prefer to live in an area with many English speaking residents.
Speak to existing residents of any desirable urb to establish noise levels, security, parking, troublesome neighbours etc.
Check whether there is free land next to your chosen urb / property. most agents / sellers will tell you that this is park land and cannot be built on - do not accept this as the truth.
Most importantly - look around for properties being sold by the owners rather than agents. There are so many on the market you will almost certainly get a good deal, and save anywhere between 5% and 25% on agent's fees.

            HTH,

            Chris.
