C4S...it would appear that we have the same views and goals but from slightly differing angles!!!

The concept of providing fully legitimate and legally broadcast English Language Television in Spain has kept us busy for nearly three years now, but it is only in the past year that we have made real progress and gained the support of a number of content license holders, broadcasters and satellite deployment operators that will allow ELTEL TV to provide the service.

I also concur with your comments about raising the investment funding...not easy especially under the current economic conditions but nevertheless possible...and very much needed when one is quoted in excess of 350 Million sterling per annum for the license to show a certain companies sports channels...OK if you have the critical mass numbers but not quite so good when the subscriber base is new and growing!!!

However, the Telmicro debacle has changed a large number of peoples perception and we have received considerable interest from a number of local people interested in both our product and indeed seeking to invest (and I quote "if it helps get things started, we've got some savings you can use") but all subject to the simple verification that it is and will remain FULLY LEGAL IN ALL WAYS...which is exactly how ELTEL TV is to be operated.

If you would like further information or to discuss the situation, please send an email to info@eltel.tv

        Thanks MikeA.
I have only been resident in the Costa Blanca for 16 months. I hope I have not perceived myself as the expert on this subject of broadcasting English speaking TV, I am definately not. Clearly yourself and I am sure others have been engaged in analyzing best solutions and cost effective solutions not only from receiving broadcasts from "a" supplier as a consumer, but perhaps from broadcasting English TV as a supplier/broadcaster. I guess you could call me the "rookie". I had never considered a loss of broadcast as, having used SKY and NTL in the UK, a possibility, I "trusted" these companies (Telmicro) were "overseen" and "monitored" by an independent adjudicator. Clearly as we still have the annoying "E52, Searching for a signal message", I was a little naive. I bow to your knowledge of the subject.
My father, being 76 now, arranged for the installation of 2 Telmicro boxes and paid 400 Euro upfront, money he can i'll afford to waste. I feel he, me, and everyone I have read about and contacted on this forum have been cheated. Yes, we know, in life, people get "stuffed" by the greedy and immoral. Hard working people, who would not consider entertaining a situation that Telmicro have presented to their customers, have received the sharp end of the sword. Even if Telmicro starts rebroadcasting, 1. we call for entitlement to compensation for lost broadcast time, in many cases paid for in advance, 2. investigation in to why a few forum entries have reportes additional direct debits being drawn on by Telmicro without account holders consent, and finally , those who wish to move to an alternative provider have the appropriate monies refunded. These guys can "jump" if they think they can come here and demand there Coship boxes back when we cancel. If they are useless to anyone but Telmicro, fine, I'd rather put it in the bin, however, being a software guy, I intend to access the box to see if it can be used for anything else.
Thanks for the reply, interesting comments.

        • So why dont spanish dislike ALL black athletes?
The only reason why Spanish F1 fans doesnt like Hamilton is what Ive told you. You can of course have your own opinion, but that doesnt make it correct.
Chess was used as example, So you could understand why TVE doesnt show you more of non spanish participation of the olympics.

My Husband really enjoys his sport, especially Formula 1, football, and GAA. He is desperately trying to find a bar that will screen the F1 from Valencia next weekend. We are also big fans of Jeff Stelling, we miss his company and comic asides. I also mourn the loss of House, Hugh Laurie is a force to be reckoned with, his acting is superb. We have watched four dvd's in the past few days, some that we have had for years. But had never bothered to watch. We are not huge television viewers, but now that it has gone, we sorely miss it.

We have in the past few days looked at alternative suppliers. One (no names) quoted us over 1000 euros, and the installation of a 2.9 metre dish. This would require cementing on our solarium, at extra cost. We could possibly receive pictures from any Space Station, but without it BBC2 would be weak!!!! But still we do not have the ultimate answer, "would any of this still be legal"????

My Husband and I converse for most of the day, but as a couple who took early retirement, we do need diversity. We both read, have our own computers, swim, socialise, travel and frequent the local bars and restaurants. But at times you want just to sit and be entertained. I have series one and two of House on dvd, I shall have to limit myself to one a week. Who would have thought, moving to Spain would have resulted in a House detox!!!!!!!!!

            Dear Nicki,
What a breath of fresh air !. I though I was the only person with this combination of viewing habits. I should declare now, and many on the forum will um and ah but I am also a BIG Patrick Stewart fan. Apart from the movie "Safehouse" which I would recommend to any move buff, I need my detox of Star Trek Next Generation. It was ironic you mentioned BBC2 as thats the only place for 2 hours a week I can get my fix in the early house of Saturday morning. I can suggest a few places you may get F1, however, depends on where you reside.
            1. Laurel and Hardy ( Dona Pepa ) , near Quesada
            2. Quesda country club
            3. Don Carlos Quesada town centre.
Sorry if it is outside your travel distance, I myself am looking for the same kinda stuff.
I read Telmicro may beginning broadcasting on Wednesday, another load of House missed ( I concur, best acting I have ever seen him, or anyone do! ) lets hope, thanks for your reply. I should start a compaign "Jeff Stelling for Saturdays" and I see where I end up. !!!!!!!

Patrick Stewart is an actor of immense stature, and what a voice !!!

Just to let you all know that I am watching english programs via DTV-B using my community antenna. It's on DTV Channel SETenVEO, which is showing the Sony channel. I have set my audio streams, primary and secondary to English, of course. American sit coms, Will and Grace etc.....

              • Direct Debit by Telmicro

You can cancel your direct debit with your online banking very easily or you can go down to your bank and instruct them personally to cancel all direct debits by Telemicro or you can send a written instruction to your banker telling them to cease all Telemicro direct debits. Naturally Telemicro would be reluctant to cancel a direct debit if they could continue debiting the account...

"I want to write to Telmicro to cancel my contract and my direct debit. Does anybody have an address for them?"

When I dispensed with the services of Telemicro three months ago, I attempted to cancel things directly with them. They continued to take the monthly DD money, not answer the phone and so on.

I then went to the bank and intructed them to recall the money, which they did on the spot, and then to cancel the DD which they did. As a back up, I also asked for the DD cancellation in writing which they happily provided.

Telemicro arrived two days later and removed the box and aeriel which remain theirs.

                Hope this is of help.

Without throwing out accusations I think it is useful to know that there might be a SHORT time limit to make claims has the Company gone into receivership. I am not familiar with Spanish bankruptcy laws but know that in some jurisdictions having made a written claim before or within the first week of opening is essential. Just being cynical I fear that some might have a personal interest in spreading wrong information and leaving people to wait and see.

Perhaps someone knows more about this?

(Making a claim is easy, you just need to send a letter by registered mail or fax demanding your money back if the service is not restored - including for SKY SPORTS if they advertised delivering this to you.)

                • Channels available with Imagenio Trio Telefonica

This is a link to show the channels available to the Valencia area via Telefonica.

                  Programación Imagenio València

It sure looks to me that Telemicro was stealing Fox, Calle 13, SciFi and many others from Telefonica and selling them to us... I don't think Telefonica are ones to mess with. Pretty crazy stuff.

You can go to Telefónica - Servicios de telefonía, Internet, ADSL y televisión. Telefónica de España su proveedor de telecomunicaciones hit Television in the above options. To see if you have coverage you can put your telephone number in the little box at the right hand side under "Compruebe cobertura"

the different package offers are here:
Elija su combinación preferida - Selección de opciones

I have tried them and my remote has an A/B option on it which enables me to switch from Spanish to English on channels such as Fox and others which offer the two languages. ALso with the TDT boxes for Digital Spanish I get about 20 Channels.
CANALES TDT ORIHUELA-TORREVIEJA - tv cadenas television digital terrestre

                  Just some ideas

I personally am not a big Trekkie fan, but one of my sons was/is. We had all the videos, books, tapes on how to speak Klingon, and even cookery books. He liked them all, including Deep Space Nine. It helped that I worked for a large publishing company. But I do agree with Patrick Stewart being an accomplished actor. I pride myself as being a bit of a film buff, but had to look up Safe House on IMDB, of course it didn't help that there is a new release under the same name. I shall have to keep an eye out for it, if we ever get the talking box working again. Have just watched another dvd, four in just under a week. We have been in Spain for several years, and have not watched that many in all the time we have been here. And with the exception of one, they were quite gloomy. Tried listening to Sunshine FM early this evening, okay except for the constant ads. That is until 20.00, when I thought John Thompson from the Fast Show was on doing his music presenter/DJ routine. Talk about cheesy. It lasted all of two minutes.

On our contract with Telmicro (not worth the paper it's written on) it does state "Cina Electronics SI will do its utmost to transmit to the client the channels as listed. However due to the nature of the TV and radio channels and if circumstances beyond our control arise, we reserve the right for changes".
(Suppose that could cover the illegal channels we have been receiving)

                      Another point they state:
We cannot be held responsible for theft of, damage or vandalism to our cables or supplied equipment or buildings or other obstructions being erected blocking our signal to you at any future time.
(That probably covers us not receiving any channels as the Guardia ripped all the equipment out)

                          Hi Nicky,
                          Go to this link:

Amazon.com: Safe House: Patrick Stewart, Kimberly Williams, Hector Elizondo, Joy Kilpatrick, Craig Shoemaker, James Harlow, Richard Livingston, Julia Vera, Brenda James, Robert Lee Barry, Scott Zacky, Wayne Demaline, Hank Garrett, Holly Herbert, Mich

                          Here is a review:

This unusual film begins deceptively, seeming to be yet another high-tech spy flick laden with futuristic weaponry, computers running top-secret software (with the requisite flashy graphics), and the talented actor Patrick Stewart slumming at the center of a nonsensical mishmash. Stewart's presence itself is something of a tip-off, but when his character is soon glimpsed hanging upside down from an exercise device, watching a wall of security cam monitors while quoting H.L. Mencken, it's apparent that this isn't just another action film with an outsized firearms budget. In fact, nothing much seems to be what it appears. Mace Sowell, Stewart's character, claims to be a retired intelligence agent, but his daughter, who doesn't believe a word of it, trots him around to a succession of skeptical shrinks. And while his daughter interviews potential caretakers for her apparently deranged father, Sowell is viewed through the patio doors of his lavish house taking rather acrobatic target practice in the back yard. There is the plot of a thriller in all of this, but make no mistake about it, the most entertaining aspect of this quirky film is watching Stewart have a wonderful time playing an endearing curmudgeon who might be the craziest man alive, or perhaps a totally rational man who really does know some secrets that put himself and others in danger. --Robert J. McNamara
