  • Hope someone can help!We have sold our Apt.

    Hi
Hope someone can help!We have sold our Apt and we are at the Notary in 10 days. I need to know other people's thoughts and experiences on bringing the money out of Spain. We've decided not to buy again at the present time, as we don't seem to use it enough, PLUS, could do with the money here in the UK. We've not made any money on the sale, in fact we've lost money, but hey ho, that's life.
Any help would be appreciated as looking at different options. One that was suggested was Currencies Direct. Does anyone know how much CAM Bank charges for transfers?

    thanks

Hi we did things the other way round from UK to Spain using Currencies Direct can recommend them wholeheartedly they will get you the best exchange rate and in 2004 there was no commission charge, so what we changed in £ to € is what we got. You have to fax all your details to them.

Have you thought of asking friends and neighbours if they have any sterling and would like to swop for your euros, you could both save perhaps.

Global Currency Exchange Network are good too don't forget the hacienda may ask you where you got a big amount of money from to take out of Spain so keep all the paperwork

thanks everyone, for the help. We'd be really interested to hear from someone who has done this, and what did the Spanish Bank charge. Also. re: the 3% that is retained......has anyone got it back, as been told, it takes 12 months.

                Re 3% retention.
You can get it back, but you need to have paid your wealth tax for every year that you owned the property. This should have been done via form 214, we got ours back after about 15 months.

we've always paid our dues, so hopefully will get it back. Did your lawyer get it for you?

It was a bit complicated, but your lawyer from sale should do it.
