79 year old woman missing in Elche

A search is continuing after a 79 year old Spanish woman who disappeared whilst on her way to visit her daughter on Tuesday of last week.

The family of Rosa Sempere Sempere is distraught. Rosa disappeared in the afternoon last Tuesday from her home Elche. She suffers from dementia, as has been verified by a video camera at a gas station, on the southern ring road, near Puente de Barrachina, where her daughter lives, but she failed to arrive.

A search has been conducted of the surrounding area with dogs, helicopters, and more than 100 people, but have not been able to locate Rosa.

The family now fear for her life, although her relatives hope that someone has taken her in to their house in Elche.

She was wearing a red summer dress and a salmon cotton shirt. She is 1,55 metres tall and of normal complexion. She has short brown hair. The family requests that anyone who may have seen her should contact the police.

A body, believed to be that of Rosa Sempere Sempere who went missing in Elche, has been found today in an area of this municipality, according to sources of the Local Police.

Forensic officers and members of the National Police have attended the scene and an investigation is being carried out to ascertain the events that have led to this tragic occurrence.

Rosa Sempere Sempere went missing on Tuesday, when she was on her way to visit her daughter, but failed to arrive. A search was launched, but was unable to locate the lady who had been suffering from dementia.

Search teams of volunteers, police officers, and five dogs of the Guardia Civil from Cartagena, were all involved in the search, which was extended in recent days to cover the areas of Dolores and Santa Pola, while the police did the same in the neighboring town of Crevillent.

This is a very tragic finding which ends a period of great distress for the family.
