    Default Children and NIE

Can anyone advise on the position of children as regards getting an NIE number and being registered with the local authority for school? Are they covered by the parents NIE or do they need a separate number. If so how is this obtained?
If they do not have a separate number how are they registered on the padron?
Is it the case that everyone living in the house is registered at the same time?

My kids do not have their own NIE numbers and are included on the padron.

My son even has his own residency card which he managed without an NIE. When we went to pay the few Euros at a bank for the residency card we explained he was too young to own property and thus did not need an NIE so they gave us the receipt and we still were able to get him a residency card.

When registering your children at school you will have to show and provide copies of parent's identity. This means residencia card or passport. I don't think having an NIE number has anything to do with it.
